Bar None Cowboy Christmas Ball
Here are some pictures of the preparations going on at the Bar None Church for a history-making event ! On Friday, December 11th, 2009, Michael Martin Murphey's Bar None Cowboy Christmas Ball (TM) will be presented at a Cowboy Church for what appears to be the first time in history! The Committee Members of the Texas Cowboys' Christmas Ball of Anson,Texas have consulted with the Bar None Cowboy Church to help them adopt the traditions of the original Ball in Anson, including the tradition of the making of identical dresses for the ladies of the committee to wear to the event.
As you can see from these pictures, they're already learning to dance the traditional Texas dances and are making quite an effort on the decorations, posters and food. Like Anson, Michael Martin Murphey's Bar None Cowboy Christmas Ball will be an alcohol-free, smoke-free event where people of all ages will be comfortable and welcome-including small children if accompanied by their parents or relatives. Special dances will be held for Mothers and Sons, Fathers and Daughters, Grandparents and Grandchildren, Newly Engaged Sweethearts, Recently Married Couples, 50+Years Married Couples, Kids, Working Cowboys and Cowgirls, Ranch Owners, and many more categories. A special effort is being made to prepare good old cowboy food for all who wish to eat at the event. Heartlight Ministries is sponsoring the event as fundraiser, as well presenting a concert-production of Michael Martin Murphey's Cowboy Christmas at Belcher Center in Longview the night before. The two events are tied together for the sake of a wonderful Texas ministry that helps young women who have had a tough time in life. The events are open to the general public.
